Miche Deva RD: Italian brand releases heavy artillery

Forget what you thought you knew about Miche. With the new Miche Deva RD, the San Vendemiano brand no longer merely follows the peloton, it attacks violently in the lead. Finish compromises: Miche deploys an impressive technological arsenal here — Carbon rays, differentiated widths and ceramic bearings — to come hunting directly on the lands of the most pointed American references.

Fixed at an elitist rate of 3 200 €These wheels have a clear mission: to offer the aero performance of a high rim with the vivacity of a mountain wheel. Successful bet? Let's undo the beast.

Vonoa Carbon Rays: A first at Miche

It is THE great novelty that changes the whole behaviour of the wheel. Miche abandons steel to introduce the rays Vonoa Carbon.

Why is this crucial?

  • Explosive rigidity: Carbon does not stretch like steel. The power transmission is instantaneous, without « latency » during the sprints.
  • Feather weight: These rays are used to scratch the precious grams that move the pair into another category.
  • Aero: Their wide and flat profile (4×1 mm) acts as an air blade.

Attention, however, which says carbon rays often says touch a very direct road. It's a courier wheel, made for speed, not for strolling.

Carbon Rays Vonoa Miche Deva.
The Vonoa carbon rays ensure exceptional lateral rigidity.

Rim Geometry: « Wide »

Miche has completely reviewed his copy of the profiles. Deva RD adopts an internal width of 23 mm (with hooks / hooks, for total safety).

It is a modern choice that allows:

  1. D 28 mm and 30 mm.
  2. Roll at lower pressures to increase comfort and efficiency (less vibration).

But the most interesting is the width differentiated external between front and rear, a technique inspired by aeronautics to manage lateral winds:

  • Before (Stability): The rim is wider (up to 33 mm on version 52 !) to better guide the air flow and stabilize the direction.
  • Back (Reactivity): Finer (about 30-31 mm) to reduce the trail.

Moths and bearings: CeramicSpeed

At the heart of the system, we find machined hubs in Ergal 7075 T6. The mechanics are noble, but Miche goes further by integrating the bearings CeramicSpeed.

This is an argument of weight at this price level: fluidity is maximized and, if maintenance is followed, sustainability is on track. The freewheel body quickly engages, faithful to the precise sound of beautiful Italian mechanics.

My opinion? A masterful return to the front of the stage

With the Deva RD, Miche is not content to return to the race; the Italian brand comes to push the established hierarchy. What immediately strikes, beyond the impressive technical data sheet, is the maturity of the product. The contribution of the partnership with the team is felt here. Groupama-FDJ.

The demand of the WorldTour riders has visibly pushed the R&D department of San Vendemiano into its entrenchments, forcing the perfect alliance between the Miche's historical industrial expertise (everything is machined with surgical precision in Italy) and the reality of the terrain at the highest level. The result is a pair of wheels that makes no compromise between the rigidity necessary for the massive sprints and the lightness required in the mountains.

Aesthetically, he's a fool. The design is magnificent, both sober and technical, leaving the carbon fiber beautiful. If you were looking for a credible and raced alternative to American giants, don't look anymore: Italy has its say again.
