Campagnolo Shamal – Dual Profile: the evolution of a classic

Campagnolo unveils a new version of its iconic wheels Shamal, which have marked the history of cycling since 1992. This new generation, baptized Shamal – Dual Profile, combines tradition and innovation with technological choices that aim to optimize aerodynamics, fluidity and versatility.

A design thought for performance

The main evolution of this version is its differentiated profile 40 to 45mm. This technical choice, based on CFD analyses and wind tunnel tests, improves air penetration while ensuring better stability in the event of lateral wind. This design also brings a good compromise between rigidity and comfort, an asset for both climbers and roller riders.

News Shamal not content with an evolution of the profile: Campagnolo also incorporates USB ceramic bearings (Ultra Smooth Bearings). Known for their low coefficient of friction, these bearings offer exceptional fluidity and reduce rolling resistance, thus improving pedalling efficiency over long distances.

Proven technology for optimal comfort

Another key element of the Campagnolo design is the Shelving G3, a signature of the Italian brand. This specific configuration, with a grouping of three rays on the right side, allows a more homogeneous distribution of voltages, reducing deformations and improving power transmission. This system results in a more rigid wheel while maintaining an efficient vibration absorption, ideal on long outputs.

The Shamal – Dual Profile are also equipped with the 2-Way Fit system, which makes it possible to use both conventional tires with air chamber and tubeless tires. This dual compatibility is a real plus for cyclists who want to adapt their equipment to road conditions: tubeless tires offer better puncture resistance and lower pressure for increased comfort. In addition, the top deck without holes simplifies the mounting by removing the need for an adhesive rim bottom.

Finally, they are equipped with the MoMag (Mounting Magnet), which allows to position the nuts of the spokes without piercing the upper deck of the rim. This process improves wheel rigidity and eliminates the need for an adhesive rim bottom, simplifying the fitting of tubeless tires and reducing overall weight.

The quality of manufacturing is a strong point of Campagnolo, and these new wheels are no exception. Designed and produced in Europe, their construction in unidirectional carbon benefits from a finishing C-LUX, a treatment that eliminates micro-imperfections and ensures a smoother surface.
