Ekoi launches into the carbon wheel

Ekoi, a French brand based in Fréjus, made a remarkable entry into the world of carbon wheels with its first road wheels, the 50 Ultimate, launched in April 2025. Renowned for its helmets, glasses and textiles, Ekoï expands its offer with this full carbon model, the result of a collaboration with SCOM, a Chinese company expert in carbon composites for the competition. Limited to 500 pairs and reserved for the European market, this pair has been tested by Stéphane Rossetto, former pro and employee Ekoi, who boasts its lightness and rigidity. Posted at 1999,99 € but already on promotion at 1399.99 €, these carbon wheels combine performance, style and aggressive pricing positioning. Here's a dive into those wheels that shake the market, ready to challenge the leaders.

Ekoi 50 mm wheels, new products and innovations

The Ekoi 50 Ultimate marks a key step for the brand, which relies on SCOM, a Chinese company founded in 2020, specializing in carbon wheels inspired by motorsport. This Sino-French partnership combines the bold design of Ekoi with SCOM's technical expertise, delivering high-performance carbon wheels at a competitive price. The 50 mm profile, designed to balance aerodynamics and versatility, was tested by Stéphane Rossetto, Head Sponsoring Team & Athlete at Ekoi. He describes a « impressive rigidity » and one « nervousness » Although his role within the brand encourages him to nuance his enthusiasm. Full carbon rims incorporate Vonoa ST Super Aero carbon rays, also used by Newmen and Scope, reducing drag while caring for aesthetics. Available in three finishes – holographic, red chrome, graphite – via a premium process, these wheels meet the demand for style and performance.

On the technical side, Ekoi innovates with Straight Pull hubs, optimizing power transfer and simplifying maintenance, an asset for autonomous cyclists. The 36-tooth rocking system ensures fast reviving, ideal for competitions. At 1350 g, these carbon wheels rank among the lightest in their class, challenging models to over 2000 €. Compatible tubeless and chamber tires (25-38 mm), they adapt to the road as well as to the light gravel. The lifetime warranty, with a 50% replacement in case of breakage, reflects the confidence of Ekoi and SCOM. Posted at 1999,99 € but proposed for promotion at 1399.99 € As soon as they are launched, these wheels surprise by their barred price – an unusual strategy for a limited series, but typical of Ekoi, which often uses promotions to capture attention. This attractive price, combined with a controlled production, positions the 50 Ultimate as a serious alternative to the major brands, although limited availability may frustrate some.

Ekoi relies on direct distribution to maintain low costs while guaranteeing premium quality. The collaboration with SCOM, expert in advanced composites, ensures precise rims, optimized for modern tyres. Vonoa rays, with their 5.2 mm aerodynamic profile, reduce turbulence.. The standard Enduro Bearings (probably steel) are robust, but do not compete with high-end ceramics. The finishes, protective against external aggression, prolong the sustainability of carbon. With only 500 pairs, Ekoi creates the event, but cyclists will have to decide quickly for these carbon wheels that mark 2025 by their boldness and price-quality ratio.
